Online Training Designed to Prevent Smoking Gun E-mails Wins Award

Rules adopted by the US Supreme Court will make it common practice for an organization’s e-mails to be examined during litigation. Countless employers will have to defend “smoking gun” e-mails written by their employees. How can organizations manage this looming disaster?

“Training is the answer,” says Allison Plesur, CEO of Interactive Employment Training, Inc. “Employees need to know that e-mails are permanent and not confidential. They need to understand how e-mails may come back to haunt them and the organization.” Interactive Employment Training’s online course, Think Before You Send: A Practical Guide to E-Mail in the Workplace was recently recognized by Human Resource Executive magazine as one of its Top Training Products of 2006. “It’s an important issue and we’re glad that th 5a8 e business community has recognized the need to train employees in important e-mail best practices. We’re proud that Human Resource Executive has recognized the value of presenting that training in an engaging, creative, practical manner,” said Plesur.

New SEC Executive Compensation Regulations Go Into Effect, Improving Corporate Transparency

New rules went into effect last Friday requiring public companies to provide more detailed information about executive pay packages and perks to investors in their filings with the SEC. These changes are aimed at increasing corporate transparency and come amidst widespread option backdating probes and the well-publicized, widening wage gap between executives and employees.

The SEC's new filing requirements will add to existing disclosure tables found in SEC filings and require companies to adopt a "principles based" approach to compensation disclosure - essentially requiring them to disclose and explain all material executive compensation in plain English. These changes will affect all SEC filings that require compensation disclosures, beginning this week.

LA Times Features La Jolla's Newly Constructed 'Home of the Future'

A glass and concrete towered home (www.lajollacontemporary.com) featured in a two-page article published by the LA Times was the vision of La Jolla resident Dr. Stefan Lemperle.

In 2002, San Diego-based architect Jonathan Segal FAIA, who is heavily inspired by his peers Richard Neutra, John Lautner and Tadao Ando, was hired to design the 4,800 sq. ft., 62 ft. wide oceanfront masterpiece, which now stands on an oceanfront bluff top in La Jolla.

The four-level glass tower home was built 13 feet deep into the ground, providing 2,000 sq. ft. of subterranean living to maximize precious living space on the lot. In beach cities, building down is the best way to get the most out of limited lots without violating any strict restrictions on the height and footprint of the home, and also draw less attention from the street giving the homeowner more privacy.

Gridborg Host Media Processing Software Now Supports Envox 6

'This is probably one of the most important milestones in Gridborg 1.0 development so far. It makes Gridborg viable telephony cards replacement for developers of thousands of applications that are written with Envox toolkit.' said Boris Pavacic, CTO of Uniqall, Inc. 'For the most of them, switching costs are almost non-existent.'

Switching underlying telephony cards with cards from another vendor, or with host media processing based solution is not without costs attached to it. On other hand, the carrot is huge. Long-term savings associated with switching to VoIP & host media processing solution like Gridborg are tremendous. Costs of development, deployment and maintenance as well as those of inventory, sparing, and startup go through the floor once when specialized hardware is finally taken out of the equation.

The lowest switching costs are for developers using rapid application development toolkits such as Envox that do support both old and new platform. By supporting the latest version of industry leading toolkit Uniqall made significant move toward those developers who are best positioned to make quick, painless transition.

MoneyandMarkets.com: Surviving Soaring Retirement Costs

The Social Security Administration just announced that benefit recipients will get a 3.3 percent "raise" in 2007. But this cost-of-living adjustment just isn't going to cut it ... not in today's world, according to Weiss Research Analyst and Money and Markets Contributor, Nilus Mattive.

In Mr. Mattive's October 24th report, he highlights the details: "the average Social Security recipient is getting just $238.25 a week in payments. Can you enjoy life on that amount? I don't think so. And that 3.3% increase? It translates into a lousy $7.86 a week ... or about $31 a month. That's barely enough to cover the co-payments on some prescriptions!"

News for Players of the Lottery

For the first time for many years, at last someone has done some original thinking with regard to lottery systems. This in itself is remarkable when people consider that lotteries are a worldwide phenomenon with millions of minds trying to exploit the systems, so far to no avail.

Bernard Fellerman has just written a book, "Winning the Lottery," published by LULU (www.lulu.com) at a print price of approximately $9.35. The book gives lots of lottery information and history, as well as original ideas on a system for betting on the lottery in such a way that odds are reduced sometimes as much as 8,000 percent, or maybe even more, and strategy is improved to help a person's chances of winning. His 'systems' are applicable in any country worldwide that has lotteries for public use.

New Book Reveals the Original Octo-Mom

Octuplets mother Nadya Suleman has become notorious for giving birth to eight children at the same time, but Daniel King's new book, "The Secret of Obed-Edom," reveals she may not be the first Octo-mom.

In biblical times, there was a woman who may have borne eight sons in one pregnancy. She was the wife of Obed-Edom, an obscure Bible character. The Bible says, "God blessed his house and everything he had." Later in the Bible, there is a list of all of Obed-Edom's sons, eight of them, and according to one ancient Jewish commentator, the reason that everyone knew Obed-Edom was blessed was because his wife conceived and gave birth to all eight sons at the same time.

SV40 Cancer Foundation is Launched

The SV40 Cancer Foundation has just been established by Raphaele and Michael Horwin in memory of their son, Alexander Horwin who passed away in 1999 from an SV40 positive cancer at the age of 2 ½.

SV40 was the 40th virus found in rhesus monkey kidney cells when these cells were used to make the polio vaccine. This virus contaminated both the Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV) created by Dr. Jonas Salk and the Oral or "Live" Polio Vaccine (OPV) created by Dr. Albert Sabin.

The Horwins lost their child, Alexander, http//www.ouralexander.org to a SV40 positive brain tumor in January 1999. Leading SV40 scientists in the United States performed five tests at five different laboratories on tissue removed from Alexander’s brain tumor. DNA polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology was used along with other sophisticated techniques such as laser micro-dissection. These tests demonstrated that SV40 was in Alexander’s brain tumor cells and that the virus was active in creating the cancer.
